This ‘X-Factor’ could be seen as emotional intelligence (EI). By understanding and developing your emotional quotient (EQ) you can set the right foundations for greater success in your life. E.I is essentially a measure of your ability to understand your own emotions and those of other people; and to use this intelligence to guide your thinking and behaviour. It relates to competencies and can usually be acquired and improved.
High Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is linked to strong mental health, flexibility and adaptability, self-control, good emotional balance, strong relationships and, increasingly better performance at work. Higher EI usually leads to reduce stress and conflict and increased engagement and productivity at work and home.
Unlike IQ, which is geared towards personal qualities, emotional intelligence combines interpersonal qualities and is focused on your ability to form close relationships, to thrive in social situations, and to make decisions that result in positive outcomes for all. Because of this, it is easy to see why certain people leave an impression on you and why emotional intelligence has become so important.
